Gimme broke my heart by passing away.. She had a recurrence of her liver problems that we had been treating. Unbenknownst to us, her liver had been excreting toxins that affected her brain. She had a seizure and we rushed her to the vet. There were no available options to get rid of the toxins and so we had to do the right thing and let her go to the Rainbow Bridge.
Gimme did so much throughout her life. Besides being my best friend, she finished her UKC Grand Championship - becoming the first Great Dane in Colorado to have both her UKC *and* AKC Grand Championships! She was a 2-time Best in MultiBreed Show winner. After we spayed her, she won several Altered BIMBS. Because I wanted to make sure she was a well rounded girl, we did UKC Rally as well. She qualified as a Total Dog not only at local shows, but at the UKC Premier in Kalamazoo (MI). While at Kalamazoo, she made the first round of cuts for Top Ten as well! Gimme was a UKC Top Ten Great Dane in 2010 (#2) and 2013 (#7).
Gimme completed her IABCA Championship with nothing but excellent scores.
Gimme absolutely loved to show and the judges noticed! She completed her AKC Championship in September of 2010. She completed her Grand Championship in February 2011. She became only the 2nd Colorado Great Dane (and the first bitch) to get her Grand Champion Bronze level in August 2013.
Wanting to make sure she was well rounded in AKC as well as UKC, we entered obedience trials. Gimme completed her RN (2012), BN (2014), CD (2014), and CGC (2010).
The Great Dane Club of America offers a Versatility Award to all Great Danes that complete their AKC Championship and two other AKC titles. Because Gimme had so many titles, we applied for her Versatility award! We love versatile dogs!
Over the years, we completed all of Gimme's health testing needed to get her CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) number.
In 2012, we bred Gimme to Sean - IABCA BIS/AKC BISS-AKC GCH/IABCA CH Baysides Just Another Day in Paradise CGC. They gave us 7 wonderful puppies (4 fawn boys, 3 fawn girls). One puppy became an AKC Grand Champion and all 3 girls are AKC pointed. I'm proud of all of the puppies and their owners!
When we spayed Gimme, I knew that when she was 6 I would be bringing her out to enter in the Veterans classes! We entered the Great Dane Club of Greater Denver specialties when she was 6-1/2 years old. We went Best Veteran in Specialty (both shows), Best in Veteran Sweepstakes, and she also got Select Bitch from the Veterans class!
Gimme was an absolute love, my best friend, and a perfect companian no matter what we were doing. She was a wonderful example of a healthy, obedient, conformationally correct Great Dane. We miss you Gimme.
